Peter Lindbergh: Untold Stories

Overview

Untold stories, is the first survey exhibition curated by Peter Lindbergh himself. First opened at the Kunstpalast Dusseldorf in February 2020, it then travelled to Italy, before opening in La Coruña Spain in December 2021. The selection of 152 photographs of Lindbergh’s work includes early and more recent photographs presented from the artist’s perspective.

In addition to his work for internationally renowned magazines, the collection includes numerous photographs that have never been exhibited before, and which reveal an unexpected side to his work.

Apart from celebrating his legacy, Untold Stories is also the artist’s statement on fashion photography. His belief that individual beauty has many facets, and that there is authenticity in imperfection, made Lindbergh famous for capturing personality and special moments of intimacy in his images. In doing so, he broke with the stereotypes in fashion photography.

For Untold Stories Candlestar worked alongside project coordinators Profirst and publication designers Baron & Baron, overseeing the exhibition design as well as text commissioning for the accompanying exhibition catalogue.
