Collage: Women in Photography

Overview

Showcasing some of the finest photographers creating powerful imagery around the world today, Collage features images by 64 women photographers on the theme of sustainability.

Together the images address the most urgent environmental and social problems that face the planet, from the aftermath of the war in Ukraine to human trafficking across the Gulf of Aden to children’s education in post-industrial England. Featured photographers include Mandy Barker, Joana Choumali, Gohar Dashti, Rena Effendi, Rinko Kawauchi, An-my Lê, Alice Mann, Chloe Dewe Mathews, Diana Markosian, Alex Prager, Taryn Simon and Vanessa Winship amongst others.

Collage features introductory essays by notable figures in photography, including Sally Mann, winner of the ninth Prix Pictet in 2021 and Jan Dalley, the Financial Times’ Arts Editor. In an opening conversation between Michael Benson, Director of the Prix Pictet, and renowned Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide, she comments the photographer’s job is to synthesize, to make strong and poetic work from daily life. Each of the photographers featured in Collage does exactly that.
